Preparing to Teach in the Life Long Learning Sector / Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector
If you are interested in teaching in the adult sector then the City and Guilds 7303 and the 7304 course is for you.
At STRIDE we can offer you both of these courses and the support you need to complete them. Our courses are small to allow maximum interaction with the tutor.
The first course that you would need to complete is the PTLLS (City & Guilds Qual 7303)
The course is 10 weeks long and usually runs on a Wednesday Evening from 5pm-8pm
The programme is designed to enable delegates to:
· Adopt an integrative approach to theory and practise.
· Reflect on their own previous / current levels of experience, practise and skills, and potential for development.
· Build up knowledge of the principle of learning, teaching, assessment and evaluation.
· Develop their own communication and interpersonal skills.
· Develop an awareness of their professional role, the essential value systems which underpin it and the legal requirements for carrying out the role.
How will i be assessed?
The course is assessed by completing two assignments and a 30 minute micro-teach.
How much does the course cost?
£240 per person. This includes qualification handbook, certification tea/coffee and on-going help during the course.
What are the Entry Requirements?
There are no specific entry requirements for this qualification; however, there is a considerable amount of written work to be completed. This will involve reading of reference books, researching specific topics, applying theory to practical scenarios and demonstrating knowledge and understanding through written work. Therefore, candidates for this course should have a good standard of written and verbal communications skills.
You will have an interview (either face to face or by telephone) to help determine whether this course best suits your needs. You will also complete an interview questionnaire and initial assessment tasks to help us advise you further.
The Second course that you can complete if you choose is the CTLLS (City & Guilds Qual 7304)
This course is 26 weeks long and usually runs on a Monday night from 5pm-8pm.
The certificate comprises of three units.
The qualification must total a minimum of 24 credits.
The units are:
· Planning and Enabling Learning.
· Principles and practise of Assessment.
· Equality and Diversity.
How much does the course cost?
£450 per person. This includes manuals, certification, tea/coffee and on-going help during the course.
What are the requirements?
Candidates for this course must have completed 7303 Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector. In addition candidates will need to complete a Level 2 assessment of their Literacy and Numeracy - unless they have O Level (or equivalent passes) in the subject (s). This is arranged and conducted in-house by STRIDE. Candidates for this course should have a good standard of verbal communication skills. Candidates will also be required to have access to, and undertake 30 hours of teaching practise, with a minimum of three hours of observation by the course tutor, or nominated observer.
