Training - Start IT

Stride, the City Centre based vocational training centre has opportunities available for young people interested in ICT. They can learn how to build and repair computers, whilst learning a range of different ICT components such as animation and video editing.

We will provide flexible timetables between 16.5hrs to 30hrs per week to suit individual needs. In addition to that, travel expenses may be reimbursed. EMA (Education Maintenance Allowance) will be paid if eligible.


This new course provided by Stride is to allow their students more choices and a better skills base for prospective future employment toward their chosen career path. The typical course content will include the following:

  • Assisting with building and repairing computers
  • Installation of software and preparation for use
  • Making music\promotional videos
  • Core Skills in applications such as Microsoft Office
  • Web design and building websites

    This course will work towards a City and Guild level 1 qualification in Start IT (4248)
